Cast lead alloy circular uni-faced token. The token has a worn raised design which is probably a capital I with short central cross bar withn a circular border. The reverse is blank. It is 21.4mm in diameter, 3.6mm thick and weighs 7.58 grams. Lead tokens has a wide variety of uses and were made locally, they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are generally Post Medieval in date c.1500-1800 AD.

Post Medieval cast lead circular double-sided token. The token is 21.6mm in diameter, 3.6mm thick and weighs 10.04g. The token is decorated with raised capital letters, EW with a large dot between, on one side. The other side has a raised date, 1768. Lead tokens can be produced easily and were often made at home for a range of tasks. They are therefore difficult to date precisely and dated examples are rare. The date of this re-inforces the impression that examples with initials are mostly Post Medieval in date.

Post Medieval cast lead unifaced circular weight. The weight is 18.8mm in diameter, 2.3mm thick and weighs 6.01g. It is stamped on one side with a capital letter W and L, with a 1 underneath; the other side is blank. The use of a stamped design rather than raised cast letters suggests this was a weight rather than a token as stamped designs were more time consuming to produce. They are used on weights as the flan could be corrected to the right weight then stamped. Lead weights like this can be produced easily and were often made at home for a wide range of uses, they are therefore dif…

Post medieval cast lead circular unifaced token. The token is 18.6mm in diameter, 1.3mm thick and weighs 3.26g. The token has a raised capital I (or possibly H) on one side with double parallel lines on the downstroke and wide ends. There are some short raised lines on the reverse but these do not make a clear design, it suggests the token was cast in a two piece mould. There is a small oval hole through the token which appears to be a casting error. Lead tokens can be produced easily and therefore difficult to date precisely but those with initials were mostly produced between 1500 an…
