Silver hammered coin most probably of later post medieval date 1550- 1660. The coin is heavily worn and probably deliberately polished to remove all detail. It has then been folded in three to form a reverse S shaped profile. The surface of both faces of the coin have been cut with a knife or bladed instrument in an irregular and non-sensical pattern. The coin also seems to have been bitten in several places with series of rectangular impressions (most likely from teeth) present. The coin is similar in size to that of an Eliabethan threepence piece, and does not seem to have been made…

A very worn and clipped Post Medieval silver coin of unknown monarch. The coin has been clipped down to the inner circle and therefore the legend has been removed with it. The obverse is largely blank but the reverse shows a quartered shield with the rampant lion of Scotland in the upper right quadrant. This was adopted by James I and would date the coin to the reign of James I (1603-1625 AD) or Charles I (1625-1649).

An incomplete and extremely abraded Post Medieval Tudor period silver coin. No detail can be seen on the obverse but the image of the Royal shield and the part legend PO[...]/DEV[...] can just be made out on the reverse. This legend is probably a variant of POSUI DEUM ADIUTOREM MEUM which translates as "I have made God my helper". The legend was in use on various coin denominations throughout the Tudor period but judging by the size and weight of this coin it is most likely a groat or sixpence of Elizabeth I (1558-1603 AD).
