French token, made from copper alloy. The obverse shows a head or a crest surmounted by a crown, with a partly legible legend, reading: [-------------]KETDENAN[----]. The reverse is better preserved, with a central inscription which reads .LIAR[-]. / .DE. / FRANCE / [B] (on four lines); below which are three fleur-de-lis. The whole piece has a rough corroded patina with blotchy greyish-green/ greenish-brown colouration.

2004 T397 Two coins of William III, both dated 1697. Found together. Both coins are issues of King William III and date to 1697. One is a shilling, made at the Chester mint, and the other is a sixpence from London. As official silver coins of England, they would have been made to the established sterling standard of 92.5% fine metal, so, in terms of metal content, they would certainly be potential Treasure. In terms of value at the time of deposit, the sum of 1 shilling and sixpence was equivalent to a few pounds in a modern context, so the find represents a modest sum of …

A cast copper-alloy token. These types of tokens are very difficult to date because there are so many different types, some of which (like this one) have no real identifying features. This token is almost square 14.27mm x 12.81mm. It measures 4.13mm in thickness. The obverse of the token is chamfered on one of the shorter sides. Each corner of the token has been decorated with a circular punched indentation. The reverse of the token is flat and also has the four punched indentations (one in each corner).
