The weight depicts St Michael with angel wings spearing a dragon at his feet. It is of a British type produced between 1464 and 1619. The weight at 68.2 grains (4.41g. is low for an Angel (80 grains, reduced to 71 grains in 1604) but too high for a half Angel (40 grains reduced to 35.5 grains). Weights were usually made for the minimum legal weight of the coin rather than the average and also lose some weight through corrosion over the course of time.
The weight is very worn and slightly corroded.

'Intriguing… You are right, it is not obviously a cloth seal, unless it is a very fortuitously or deliberately trimmed inner disc from a large one (could have seen re-use as a counter, perhaps). Its secondary stamps too, with one figure apparently in the 90s, are also at odds with a textile connection. It is almost certainly a trade seal for some specific sort of goods, and I presume from the unfamiliar heraldry and the form of the crown that this would be a continental import, but we will have to await the possibility of a more informative example before we get there, and hopefully see how they were attached too. Probably late C16th/C17th, so worth putting on the Database as a seal. These things get more and more, not less and less'.

A full weight for a quarter laurel was 35 grains but weights were made for the legal minimum weight of the coin which was slightly less and this weight has probably become lighter due to corrosion.

The other side has raised initials: T C, within two raised concentric circles, the outer one forming the rim. The field between the circles on this side is filled with pellets.
Diameter: 18.5mm; Weight: 2.79g.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally, they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to date c.1500-1850 AD.Daniel Pett9Isle of Wight1IOW-25F1B4261048Bird facing right with a sprig of foliage above, all within two raised concentric raised circles, the outer one forming the rim of the token1IOW2009-1-432MODERNTOKENRestricted Accessfinds-26104811100IOW-25E4B5Complete1500images/fbasford/12149050014A425ECE012D732009-06-24T18:13:50ZInitials: T C, within two raised concentric circles, the outer one forming the rim.
