A copper alloy medallion dating to the 18th century.
The medallion celebrates Admiral Vernons victories over the Spanish colonies in South America during the 'War of Jenkins' Ear. He took Portobello with 6 ships on 22/11/1739. There were loads of different medals issued to commemorate it - your one shows Admiral Vernon on one side standing between a cannon and a ship; on the other side there are six ships entering a harbour.
