The flan is curled, creased, and bears extensive deposits of copper alloy corrosion, though whether base metal exfiltrated from within or from an associated object buried in close proximity is uncertain.

A modern white metal copy of a post-medieval halfgroat of Henry VIII (1509-1547), copying either the third or post-humous coinage.
There are several reasons to consider this a modern rather than contemporary forgery, probably dating from the Victorian period onwards. The flan of the coin is too round for a hammered coin of this period, and the edges of the coin a flat with sharp corners. A very worn and corroded, irregular mid 16th-century silvered copper-alloy post-medieval groat of either Henry VIII, or Edward VI, posthumous coinage in the name of Henry VIII, possibly 'London (Southwark)' mint (c. 1544 - c. 1551 AD; cf. North 1845/1872).
The coin has the appearance of clipping and has an abraded circumference with some slight bending. The coin has been pierced, presumably to convert it into a jewellery item, through the inner circle at 8 o'clock on the obverse, emerging at 3 o'clock on the reverse; the hole has abraded through.
