Both coins are of silver. The English one will be of the sterling standard of 92.5%; the Irish coin is too fragmentary for identification to be definite, so it could belong to any of a range of Henry's Irish issues, which went from a coinage of 84% silver to one of 25%.

Lead alloy token or tallie dating to the Post-Medieval period. It is sub-circular in plan and rectangular in section. Both sides have a criss-cross, hatch or portcullis design.
This design can be seen on Arms of the Waterman's guild. The object could also be an agricultural tallie given to farm labourers for ploughing or hard work.
