Modern copper alloy token. The token is oval in plan. In the centre of the token is a large number '5/' (five shillings). Around the perimeter, in capital letters arranged in two concentric rings are the words: [WELLS &] WOOKEY HOLE COOPERATIVE and on the inner [INDUSTRIAL &] PROVIDENTIAL [SOCY LIMITED] The reverse is plain. The society existed in 1868 as the National Archives hold documents of this date but further research could improve this dating. A similar token is recorded in Minnitt and Young (1990:88) no.219.

A complete Post Medieval cast copper alloy token from Groningen, dated 1590. The unifaced disc has on the obverse the arms of the City of Groningen (a double headed eagle with wings and feet outstretched and a square-topped shield, that is divided by three horizontal bars, below) with a G above and 1590 below, there is a star to the left of the two-headed eagle's neck and an annulet to the right, all within a pelleted and then linear border.
