A lead fragment of an object which is likely to be related to 18th century commorative medals, see SWYOR-2ECA62, possibly associated with Admiral Vernon. The fragment consists of the lower third of a circular flat disc with a shaft projecting from the centre of the lower edge of this. The disc fragment measures 33mm in surviving width and c20mm in height. On one face, presumably the front face, there is the moulded torso of a man with one arm bent holding a sword at the ready, it appears to be a man in the mist of a sword fight. The other, probably back face, decpicts moulde…

A silver 1/4 Ecu of Louis XV 1715-74. Interestingly yhis example has what appears to be the letter 'H' stamped into the centre of the obverse. The reason for this is unknown although other foriegn coinage, especially from Spain of this period was stamped so that it could be used in Britain with a bust, a parallel with the letter H' stamped on it cannot be found. A gold Portugese half Moeda with a value of 2000 Reis, of King John V (Ioannes) of Portugal 1706-50. One Moeda or Moedore meaning 'Port. moeda da ouro' or 'money of gold,' is normally worth 4000 reis, this type of coin is also sometimes called a crusado or cruzado because of the cross on the reverse, 1 crusado is worth 400 reis so our half moidore which is worth 2000 reis is 5 crusados.
