Circular lead token, the face is decorated with a crowned fleur-de-lis in between the letters I R, the reverse is plain. Tokens baring a crowned fleur-de-lis were used as coin weights from the reign of Henry VI for the noble, half noble and quarter noble. Although most are manufactured in copper alloy there is one example made of lead (Biggs 1990, 72). Furthermore, I R is an abbreviation for James I Rex, therefore this is most likely a coin weight from the reign of James I. Biggs N, Coin-weights in England up to 1588.
