19th century Ottoman empire coin. Face 1 reads 'Darb' (struck) within a 10 pointed star. Face 2 reads 'fii Tarablus 1223' (in Tripoli 1223) within a similar pointed star. AH 1223 is the accession date of the Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II (AD 1808-1839). This para coin was produced in his regnal year 23 ie AH 1246 (equivalent to AD 1831).
