Modern cast copper alloy commemorative medal of the battle of Trafalgar. The medal is in poor condition, with most of the original surface missing. The obverse has the remains of a left facing bust. The reverse design is almost completely missing, except for a line of approximately eight ships, with Oct [21 1805] in the exergue. The legend is missing from both surfaces, but probably originally read: HORATIO VISCOUNT NELSON . K . B . DUKE OF BRONTE . &c on the obverse, and ENGLAND EXPEXCTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY on the reverse. However, there are known examples of this medal cast w…

Cast zinc alloy replica or copy of a medallion or perhaps a fragment of a medallion, with the busts of William and Mary (1688-1694) facing each other on the obverse and a coat of arms, similar to that used on their guineas and half guineas, on the reverse. The busts are each within a beaded oval which are linked together by an attachment which may mimic a clasp or hinge so that the impression is meant to look like an open locket. The replica has been made up to two halves which have been glued together, and this tacky material still survives around the edge of the object. The coat o…
