Description: This half is in one piece and is substantially complete, apart from a section at the blade end of the mould (where it is thinnest), showing some relatively recent damage with bright green corrosion. An incomplete copper-alloy Brooch of Roman date (AD 100-200). The object is a British Plate brooch and is disc-shaped in plan and flat in section. Within the central portion of the plate are the abraded remanets of very worn enamel. The design is largely obscured by abrasion, abut is curvilinear in form, currently similar to a pelta shape. The reverse is flat and undecorated. Projecting from the top edge is a pin mounting comprising two projecting lugs with a circular-sectioned pin bar joining them. An incomplete Post Medieval pewter shoe buckle dating c. AD 1720-1790. The buckle is sub-rectangular in shape with a steeply curved profile and a drilled frame for a separate iron spindle which survives partially intact except for the two pins. The top and bottom edges of the frame are sub-D-shape with a concave external edge and are decorated with moulded inwardly arched grooves. An incomplete copper alloy Trumpet type brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 75-175). The brooch has an oval head plate from which the bow extends, curving downwards at a 90 degree angle. The head is decorated with a scroll-like design in relief with pellets in the middle of each scroll. A raised central rib separates the design which is symetrical on either side of the head. An incomplete copper alloy Button of Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1750). The object is discoidal in shape and flattened in cross section. The upper surface is decorated with an incised/engraved motif consisting of a central annulet around which are four, evenly spaced, equally length curvilinear wedges forming a cross. Between each of the arms are repeating lines, there in a circular outer border. A small portion of the outer plate is missing due to a partially abraded break. A complete copper alloy Mount of Post-Medieval date (AD 1645-1750). The object is a decorative openwork Baroque style mount.
The object is broadly petal shaped with a small knop at the top and a fan shaped knop at the base. The centre of the mount has an anthropomorphic mask in the form of a cherub’s face. An incomplete copper alloy Crotal bell of late Medieval to Post-Medieval date (AD 1500-1700). The object of a single cast form with the two hemispheres divided by a slightly raised horizontal circumferential rib. There is a circular sound hole to the side of the integral rectangular suspension loop with a sub-circular perforation, which is in the centre of the upper hemisphere. The second sound hole and approximately 50% of the upper hemisphere are missing due to a break.

Incomplete copper alloy Early Medieval ansate ('handle-like') brooch, c. AD700-760. It has equal-sized shield-shaped plates at either end. Each plate has a single, large punched ring-and-dot motif. In the centre is a bow that is arched in side view, rectangular when viewed from the front, and semi-circular in cross-section. Parts of the hinge and catchplate remain, but the pin did not survive.

Cast copper alloy fragment of a Roman horse harness fitting with remnants of inlaid red enamel decoration, c. AD 40 – 75.
This object consists of a flat, decorated plate with part of the hinge remaining and the remains of a catchplate on the reverse face. The decoration consists of an arch inlaid with red enamel, curving around a circle of inlaid black enamel. This decoration is consistant with other horse harness fittings of the same period, such as the Polden Hill Hoard (see here) and the Woore Hoard (LVPL-EB15B0).

A copper alloy buckle of Post-Medieval date, c. AD 1400-1500.
The buckle has a trapezoidal, single looped frame, with a rivet in both corners where the plate would have attached to the frame. These rivets suggest a later date than the Medieval date typical of buckles with this shape, which were cast into shape without rivets on the frame.

A complete Post Medieval copper-alloy asymmetrical double-looped buckle frame (c.AD 1500-1700).
The frame is convex at the front and flat at the rear. It has a large oval loop and a smaller rectangular loop. The outside edge of the larger loop has a pointed pin rest. The bar is roughly square in cross-section and at each end of the bar there are two small knops. The tapering plate is rectangular in cross-section and has a large, corroded loop. The pin is missing and its remains indicate it was iron.

An incomplete copper alloy Saucer Brooch of Early-Medieval date (AD 400-600). The object is circular in plan and is missing most of the saucer rim, the pin and the catchplate. The decoration is in the form of a central ring-and-dot motif from which five running spirals radiate, surrounded by a circular border. From the outer circle (which is incomplete due to damage) the shallow rim extends acutely upwards. The back of the object retains two short abraded spurs which would have formed the attachment lugs. The pin is also missing.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double loop oval buckle of Post Medieval date (c. AD. 1550-1650). Only one loop survives. The buckle is D-shaped in cross section and has a trilobed trefoil moulding with two circular recesses either side on the outside edge. The strap bar is triangular in cross section with a lobe at either end, and is bowed slightly outwards. The underside of the frame is plain and relatively flat with some bevelled inside edges. An incomplete copper alloy brooch of Roman date (AD 70-120). The object is a Colchester derivative, Rear-hook type. The object is composed of two semi-circular wings with a partially retained rear-hook at the top of the head. The spring and pin are missing. The front of the head is decorated with a pair of incised semi-circles flanking the central ridge of the bow. Below the wings the bow projects, it is D shaped in section and tapers to a pointed foot. An incomplete Iron Age cast copper-alloy object, possibly a ribbed terret ring dating to the 4th to 3rd century B.C. Only part of the body survives. This is oval in cross-section and tapers towards each of the broken ends, narrowing to become circular-sectioned as it does so. One face of the body is decorated with a series of thin linear grooves that partially extend onto one side. The grooves are all the same thickness except for one wider groove at the mid-point of the body.
The object is 28.3mm in length, 6.8mm in width, 7.4 in thickness and weighs 6.75 grams.
