A copper alloy dolphin brooch probably Roman (see Hattat's Visual Guide Fig 157 - 160 for similar). The one wing which remains is tubular, but semi-circular in cross-section with a ridge at the end. The second wing has been lost. The head of the brooch rises up to form a typical dolphin profile, and then tapers down forming the bow. The bow has broken at the bottom. The head is relatively bulky (see also Mackreth Plates 46 - 48 for similar). Broad period: ROMAN
County: Cheshire East
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An unidentified cast copper-alloy probable vessel rim of Roman to Medieval date. Whilst quite corroded and with what appears to be an extensive amount of the object missing, there are some details that give a clue to a possible age; the outer curvature is uneven and is divided into one area decorated with around six striations and another flatter areas that is undecorated. The inner part of the curve is concave and scooped into two uneven gullies. Both the ends and the upper and lower surve edges are ragged, indicating this is a broken part of a much larger object.

A partial fragment of a possibly Iron Age (200 BC-AD 200 based on similar examples on database) strap fitting, similar to YORYM-686B90 and FAKL-19312B though less complete.
