Incomplete circular copper alloy harness fitting or strap fitting of post-medieval date, probably about 1700 - 1900 AD. The fitting measures 34.6mm in length, 28.6mm wide, and 10.8mm thick, weighing 17.9g.  It consists of an almost circular boss (28.6 x 31.5mm) supported on two solid lugs placed transversely at each end of the longer oval axis.  The lugs measure 21.6 x 7.6mm and generally follow the edge profile of the circular boss, extending about 7mm from the reverse surface of the boss. Iron surviving in the centre of each lug indicate that the fitting means would h…

An early post-Medieval copper alloy hooked clasp dress fastener, c. AD 1500-1550, Read's Class E, Type 3. The front is moulded whilst the back is flat, the whole being of very thin metal. The top section of the loop is broken from the rest. The clasp has an openwork plate pierced with eight perforations of varying sizes. A chequered lozenge lies in the centre framed by a raised V. The side edges are curvilinear in outline. There is a ridged collar at the junction of the plate and the tapering hook. The hook curves forward and ends in an old break. The object is an inverted sub-U-shape with an incomplete, integral, circular suspension mount extending centrally from the upper edge. The front of the plate is decorated with incised curling scroll designs to either side of a slightly raised central rib. The reverse is slightly concave and undecorated. A complete l lead pilgrim's Ampulla of Medieval date (AD 1330-1530). The ampulla has a straight sided neck, which narrows slightly before flaring out to the chamber which is broadly semi-circular in plan. The chamber of one face is decorated with a Type II scallop shell (Spencer 1990, Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue Part 2 p.59). The handle has a hexagonal cross section, and terminates with a sub-trefoil suspension loop, which has a collar beneath. There are no marks on either of the six sides to aid orientation during use. The fob is formed of four interconnected and spiralling arms that curve round to lay on the inner curve of the adjacent arm, resulting in teardrop-shaped openwork elements within each spiralled arm.
