An Anglo-Scandinavian or Anglian strap end (Thomas classification Class E, Type 2). The strap end has been made from a single plate of cast copper alloy. The attachment end is stepped and has two rivet holes (one is now missing). The main body is tongue shaped, with a slight borders around the edge of the tongue. The front plate is decorated with an anthropomorphic design. There appears to be a face nearest to the attachment end, while the other decoration is rather obscured by corrosion and pitting. A copper-alloy medieval buckle plate, 28.1mm long, 20.8mm wide and 7.8mm thick. The plate is formed from a sheet sheet of copper folded over at the buckle frame end. The end away from the frame has 2 circular rivets to attach it in the corners of the front face, and the reverse has a single central attachment rivet. The frame end is narrowed to take the frame and recessed to take the pin, both of which are now missing. The reverse continues the narrowed width of 14.3mm. A fragment of a possible lead pilgrims badge of Medieval date (AD 1250-1550). The object is composed of a sub-circular section of lead, the back of which is undecorated and does not display clear indicators of a means of fastenings. The front of the object has the integrally cast face of probable saint, the face, a head garment, some drapery and possibly a raise hand are visible. The object is most likely a fragment of a pilgrims badge. The metal is a light brown in colour with a smooth surface patina.
