An incomplete silver Roman denarius of Vespasian (AD69-79) dating to c.AD 73 (Reece period 4).
The obverse shows a laureate bust facing right with only a partial incription, 'SPASIAN'. The reverse is worn showing Vespasian seated right holding a sceptre and branch. The inscription is almost illegible, possibly 'MAX IM'. Approximately one third of the coin has been broken off to the right of the bust between 1-4.
The coin is 17.63mm in diameter and weighs 2.2g.
