Hollow-cast head and neck of a bridled horse modelled at a scale somewhat larger than 54mm/1:32, with a distinctively broad brow and protruding eyes and with a mane falling to one side. Silver possible spoon fragment. The upper part of a cast naturalistically rendered figurine modelled at a scale of c.1:25, representing the shoulders of a bearded man wearing a top hat at a rakish angle and smoking a large-bowled pipe with curved stem; there is a moulded hollow under each armpit at about the level where the figurine has broken. Copper alloy possible vessel fragment. Very stylised leg, possibly from a statuette or a knife handle [from database accompanying source record]; this reporter [MF] would see this as a vessel leg, possibly representing the mailed leg and fooit of an armoured knight. A complete cast silver Roman ring with an oval cornelian in the bezel c. 3rd century AD. The loop has prominent angles/keels, above are triangular shoulders. The ring aperture is slightly ovoid, with a ‘D’ shaped profile. The oval cornelian sits within a broadly octagonal bezel (17.8mm x 15mm). The charioteer is driving a biga (a two-horse chariot) to the left, and is more unusual, depicting Cupid rather than the more commonly found Victory variation.
