Description & identification
Small silver annular stirrup brooch. Groups of transverse grooves inlaid with niello on both faces. The small stirrup has inturned ends and punched grooves along its edge, with two grooves forming an inverted V at the junction of pin and wrap-around head. The pin is complete and has a diamond cross-section, each facet being decorated with zig-zag grooves.
Dimensions: max. diameter 12.1mm; thickness 2,2mm; pin length 13.2mm; weight 1.55g.

Description: A complete silver finger ring of late Iron Age to Roman date (50 BC -AD 450). This object has been repurposed from a strip bracelet or armlet. The object is composed of a rectangular sheet, with flat terminals, with one terminal being slightly expanded. The ring is coiled to form a ring which overlaps to form a partial coil. The outer surface is decorated with repeating incised transverse lines, with the exception of the expanded terminal. The inner surface of the band is undecorated. An incomplete silver cufflink of Post-Medieval date (AD 1750-1850). The object is oval in plan and is formed from a pressed plate with downturned edges. The upper face is plain with an engraved outer border with repeating diagonal, radiating lines, around the outer edge. The back of the object is slightly concave with two central soldered spurs which would have formed a loop. The outer edge has a continuation of the linear motif from the upper surface due to the downturned edges.
The metal is a dark grey in colour

An incomplete cast Post-Medieval silver shoe or knee buckle (c.AD1660-1720). The frame of the buckle is rectangular in plan and is broken in two. It has two central drilled holes int the middle, to which a spindle and chape were fixed but these are now missing. The face of the buckle is decorated with vertical ribs on the short edges and horizontal ribs along the upper and lower edge, giving it an inner frame shape. The two outer edges have an almost serrated projection.
The buckle measures 45.22mm long, 30.99mm wide, 2.63mm thick and weighs10.55 grames.

Circumstances and context of discovery
The arm-ring fragment was found with the aid of a metal detector on a ploughed field, at a depth of about 3" (10cm), about 10-15 feet(5m) from the previously reported arm-ring 16.34.[i] The land is occupied by Mr Andrew Morgan and owned by Mr H. Harrison-Allen (full details of their addresses and full national grid co-ordinates for the findspot are provided on the Treasure Receipt Form).

The reported object is a small silver annular brooch. The silver frame is of flattened rectangular cross-section. One face is decorated with an incised zig-zag pattern; the other face has a crudely incised, garbled inscription copying Lombardic letter forms. (I, A, N and D can be identified).
The pin shaft is missing.
External frame diameter 20.03mm; internal diameter 13.1mm; frame thickness 0.7mm. The brooch weight is 1.18g.

A late medieval (c.1350-1500) silver finger-ring. The hoop is flat and is engraved on the exterior with text interspersed by cross-hatching. The legend begins with a cross pattee and reads '+ IESUS'. Following the final S are several angled incised lines divided by cross-hatching. There is a narrow border of 1-2mm in depth above and below the text, formed of a continuous engraved line forming each border. The exterior of the hoop is worn and the inside of the hoop is plain.

A medieval, silver, annular brooch. The ring of the brooch is decorated with punched and grooved ornament. On one side there are 3 groups of parallel grooves at 3 equidistant points around the brooch. On the other side there are 9 clusters of punch marks, equidistant around the brooch. There is a slight constriction on the brooch, which is now broken, that would have supported the pin which is missing. For a similar more complete example, see LVPL-330386 on the database.

An incomplete silver Hair Pin or Bodkin of Post-Medieval date (AD 1600-1700). The object comprises a long, rectangular sectioned, tapering needle-like pin that has been bent slightly. Early medieval silver sceatta of series E (c. 716 - 750 AD). The obverse is a quilled crescent which coils right and encloses four bars. The reverse is a degenerate beaded standard with two V and two I at adjacent corners around a ring and a dot in the centre. This belongs stylistically to the later group of series E sceattas. The sceatta retains a shiny patina on the ridges of its design and is otherwise of a uniform dark brown colour. The diameter of the sceatta is 12.34mm, the thickness is 1.5mm and its weight is 0.81g.

An incomplete cast silver pin. The head of the pin is globular in shape with a collar at the base of the head. A short length of the shaft is still apparent, measuring 6.78mm in length. The head of the pin is decorated with a series of spiralled ribs curving from the base and meeting at the top of the head, often referred to as 'wrythen' decoration. The head of the pin shows evidence of gilding, while the shaft of the pin is matte silver in colour with dark grey patches showing signs of tarnishing.
