County: North Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Copper alloy strap end. Cast U shaped or tongue shaped strap end with a slightly thinned inner end with two drilled attachment holes of diameter 2.3mm, one torn. The display face bears a series of deep longitudinal grooves, though these seem to drift from the medial alignment and they might even represent entirely fortuitous damage. If these surface features are accepted as decorative, the object might bear comparison with Thomas Class E Type 3 strap ends. The distribution of these is biased towards the eastern Danelaw and the Irish Sea littoral Viking rule of the 'Kingdom' of York an…

The rectangular cells to either side of this bear linear cross hatch in which those lines rising to meet the mid rib (as illustrated) are set in front of those running in …

Copper alloy unidentified object. Cast flat rectangular section strip; one side bears decoration comprising two groups of paired longitudinal ribs with incised line borders, separated by a pair of transverse ribs also bordered by incised lines.
