A fragment of a Roman cast copper alloy Hod Hill type E brooch, c.AD 40-60. This is a fragment of the bow and catchplate of a Roman Hod Hill brooch, decorated with a series of four transverse ribs. This piece is D-shaped in cross section with a convex front and flat back and curved in profile. Part of the catchplate has survived and extends out from the length of the bow, although its edges have broken off. The head, pin, foot, and portions of the catchplate are missing. This fragment is severely worn and corroded.
