An incomplete copper alloy Buckle of Medieval date (AD 1375-1425). The object is a lyre-shaped buckle, the retained portion consists of the rectangular socket, through which is a single central silver rivet. The face of the socket bears a black-letter inscription reading 'IHC'. Above the socket the section narrows and is marked by transverse moulding through one of which is hole which contains a 31.55mm long, pin, the shank of which has a tapering, round section with an expanded end where it is attached to the buckle. An incomplete copper alloy buckle dating to the early Post Medieval period (c. AD 1500-1600). The object has two D-shaped loops with moulded decoration on the face and flat on the reverse. The decoration is very worn but appears to depict a rope-like motif forming the loops of the buckle. Incomplete copper alloy, double loop oval buckle dating c. 1550-1650AD. The fragment has a trilobed, trefoil moulding on the outer edge of the surviving loop. This has two shallow circular depressions (blind holes). There is a moulded knop at either end of the strap bar. The object is undecorated on the reverse. An incomplete double-looped copper alloy buckle dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1600-1700). The object is circular in plan with a narrow central bar laying flush with the frame. The frame is slightly convex suggesting it is a shoe or knee buckle. The outer edge of the frame is decorated with a moulded rope-like pattern whilst the inner edge of the frame appears to be undecorated. The reverse is also undecorated. A copper alloy buckle plate or fitting of medieval date, c. AD 1350-1550. The object is a slightly convex rectangular sheet (0.8mm thick). A 1.2mm wide border surrounds a panel decorated with a row of tall (19mm) black letter characters. The space between and around the characters is infilled with a hatching pattern. 1.2 mm diameter holes are neatly drilled and countersunk in each corner, two still contain rivets. A post-medieval (AD 1575-1700) cast copper-alloy asymmetrical double-loop buckle (Whitehead 2003, pg 92, similar to Nos. 583 and 584) with possible remains of moulded decoration on the rounded arrow shaped knop and the main frame. The integral central bar is still intact, although the object in general is corroded and appears to have been bent either before deposition or during its time in the soil.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy double-looped annular buckle frame c. 1400 - 1500 AD. Broadly circular, the central bar, divides the loop into two 'D' shape sectors. There are two integral sub-rectangular projections to one outer edge. The buckle has trapezoidal cross sections and is complete, bar the pin. There is no evidence of a pin rest. The surface is now a mottled green with some ferrous staining to the rear. Whitehead (2003) page 46, No.267, illustrates a similar buckle which he dates to c.1400-1500 AD. See WILT-A8E835

The buckle frame is roughly oval shape and D-shaped in section, consisting of ten moulded roundels and a wavy outside edge. The underside of the frame is slightly concave and undecorated. A complete medieval gilded copper-alloy, single loop D-shaped buckle (c. 1250-1400), with decorative fleur-de-lis pin fixed to a narrowed and off-set pin bar. The bar has moulded knops at either end, one still with traces of guilding. The tip of the pin rests in a notch on the outer frame between barrel mouldings, one of which shows traces of guilding.
