A lead possible token probably dating from the Medieval or Post Medieval periods, about AD 1200 - 1800. It may fit into Powell type 16/28. The object is a thin disc of lead. One side is impressed with a border circle made from a zigzag line which was probably rouletted, so-called wigglework or rocker arm decoration. On the other face, there are two crossed similar rouletted lines dividing the face of the token into quarters. A Medieval to Post Medieval cast, lead alloy medium sized, uniface token of Powell type 14. The token is circular in plan, sub-rectangular in cross section and uniface. A complete uniface Token of Medieval to Post Medieval date (AD 1250-1800). Powell Type 30. One face of the token has a cross and pellet design with one pellet in each quarter, the other side is blank. The metal is a light cream in colour Diameter: 19.48mm, Thickness: 2.23mm, Weight: 4.0g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of potential uses such as tallies, gaming pieces, tickets, weights, etc. and are believed to have been locally produced; they are therefore difficult to date precisely. Therefore those with simple designs are given a more general Medieval to Post Medieval date.
