Roman copper alloy knee brooch with spring mechanism, 2nd century. Corroded with no original surface surviving. The pin is missing. The spring is now exposed but was at least partially enclosed within the wings. No decoration discernible on the wings or the bow. The bow is flat sectioned (thickness c.1.2mm) and tapers to a point. The catchplate is missing. Length 20.82mm, width of wings 13.32mm, width at top of bow c.7mm, thickness 9.52mm, weight 2.32g.
