Silver unit of the Dobunni tribe, provisionally dated to the late Iron Age 20 BC - 50 AD. The unit is similar to Allens classes I and J. Philip de-Jersey, of the Celtic coin index has suggested: The coin (CCI 06.0574) is indeed a Dobunnic type along the lines of Van Arsdell 1135 or 1137 (Hobbs 3003-3005). The two types (corresponding to Allen classes I and J) are almost impossible to tell apart - particularly in this condition - and it's debatable in fact whether there is a valid distinction to be made, since elements of the design seem to overlap the two classifications.
