A fragment of thin copper-alloy sheet, now roughly square (42 x 32.5 x 0.7 mm), with three of its four edges broken. The fragment is curved, and if the curve were extended, it would give a maximum diameter of 120 mm. The upper edge is the only original edge, and this is undecorated; below, the strip is decorated with repoussé dots arranged in pairs. There is a horizontal line of paired dots below the rim, and what is probably a lattice design below this. The dots are convex on the exterior and concave on the reverse. The surface has traces of a dark green patina. At first, the …

Early/Middle/Late Saxon weight, circular with central ring-and-dot within eight ring-and-dots around border on upper face, sides with facetted chamfer to smaller base, weighs 3.79g, 0.1260oz, 55.0 grains. Although almost certainly belonging somewhere within the Early to Late Saxon periods, this weight does not conform to any units recorded in Scull (1990) or Kruse (1992).

A hand made coarseware fragment from the rim of a late Saxon/early-medieval jar type open vessel (c. 950 - c. 1050 AD). The sherd has a dark coloration due to non-oxidisation during firing. Some sooting indicates use as a cooking vessel with inclusions of a flint temper (some of which has been burnt). The sherd has suffered a small chip in the rim surface. On the complete vessel the rim would have been approximately 140mm in diameter.

A very abraded fragment of dark grey earthenware with abundant small flint and chalk of early-medieval date, Early or Middle Saxon; there has been a considerable amount of early-medieval material from the findspot. The abrasions are especially deep on the dark outer side, with two very deep and wide scratches (which form a V shape) standing out from a carpet of smaller ones. As the abrasions are equally spread over both inside and outside faces it is suggested they occurred naturally since deposition.

Two sherds of late Saxon (early-medieval) coarseware, which appear to have the same rough red-brown colour fabric, and share the characteristic of flint and chalk temper use. There is a slight suggestion of some worn away slip or glaze, but it is too faint to merit any more than an allusion. A slightly abraded fragment of dark grey earthenware of early-medieval date, Early or Middle Saxon; there has been a considerable amount of early-medieval material from the findspot. The sherd is broadly five-sided and is slightly curved in profile. It is decorated with three transverse grooves, above/below which is a motif formed using a sub-rectangular tool to impress (?wedge-shaped) marks in a circular arrangement (rosette). The motifs might suggest a cremation urn (cf. Hawkes and Grainger 2003, 131; e.g. ref. C. 34). An Early Saxon date is perhaps more likely for this sherd, altho…

Decoration of four evenly spaced spaced horizontal grooves (1.5mm wide) running around the vessel below the rim, then below a group of four vertical grooves with two diagonal grooves to their left.
