Pierced late Roman copper alloy nummus. The coin is a commemorative issue, VRBS ROMA type dating to between 330-335AD. The obverse shows the helmeted bust of Roma left, and the reverse shows the she-wolf suckling Romulus and Remus. The mint mark is illegible. The coin has been pierced so that it can be used as a pendant, and this practice was common in the early Anglo-Saxon period. The hole has been drilled through the obverse just below the helmet at the back of the neck, which relates to just above the rear end of the wolf on the reverse.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy polyhedral pin. The pinhead remains complete but the shaft is bent and broken. The entire length of the pin is 24.2mm, which comprises a head of 11.4mm in length and 11.9mm of remaining shaft. The polyhedral head has thirteen faces in the form of a cube with the corners cur off and all faces are undecorated. The shaft has a circular section, but only a very small portion remains. Therefore it is impossible to say how long it originally was or whether is was straight or L-shaped. The metal is a mid greyish-brown colour and in fairly good condition with on…

A Roman pottery rim fragment from a flagon (AD50-170). The fabric is white and sandy with irregular quartz and some mica inclusions. It resembles Verulamium Region White Ware. The sherd has been trimmed and it is very abraded probably through use. This suggests the rim was reused probably as a spindle whorl or possibly as a weight. The reuse could date Roman – Early Medieval - Anglo-Saxon (AD50-AD1066). Dimensions: diameter of the central hole: 21mm; diameter of rim: 46mm; thickness: 17mm; weight: 24.86g.

An incomplete and very worn copper-alloy pin/nail head with a fragment of shaft surviving, measuring 18.2mm in total surviving length. The head is now globular and roughly cirular in shape measuring 12mm in diameter. It is unclear if it was originally circular in shape as the side do look quite angular, it may therefore have originally have been cuboid in shape with the corners of the cube cut off, it is now almost impossible to tell due to the extreme wear on the head. The base of the head appears to taper towards the shaft and there may even be a faint trace of a circumferencial c…
