An Early Medieval silver early penny (sceat) of Primary Phase Series D (type 8) dating from about AD 690-710, probably struck in the northern Netherlands (Friesland). Refs: Naismith 2017: p.88, figure 5; Op den Velde and Metcalf 2003: p.93.
Obverse description: Standard with central annulet and L-shaped motifs in each corner.
Reverse description: Cross with other motifs and pseudo-legend outside

A very fine Early Medieval gold Merovingian tremissis of the 'National gold' series dating to c. AD 580-670. Unidentified mint and moneyer, possibly Frisian.
The obverse depicts a bust facing left, crude in style, wearing a diadem and with stylised drapery. There is a partial linear border to the left. A large 'A' behind the head is a feature of some early sceattas. The reverse shows a Latin cross within a wreath-like border but no circumferential border is visible.

An early medieval silver coin; a sceat. Series E (AD 690 - 760), uncertain subtype.
The obverse has a crescent with a pellet towards the right hand end of it, with pelleted crescents parallel above and below it and quilled lines above the top pelleted line extending from bottom right to top left. Below the design are three conjoined parallel lines, with pellets at their joints. It is similar to Abramson, Frankener type F (p. 92), but is composite of those types.
