There is an incomplete lipped edge which is obliquely angled outwards. The outer face of the brooch is decorated with high-relief Style I animal motifs that are degenerate and are spiralling around a central undecorated boss. The upper terminal is broken, forming a flat surface. The break appears to have the remains of an iron rivet and it is across the rivet hole that the leg is broken. The frame, on the outer edge at the apex, has a small triangular integral protrusion with a notch for the pin. The upper surface of the frame is sub-D-shaped in section. Roman (probably 1st century) bracelet: The copper-alloy fragment is rectangular with both narrow terminals being broken, but not recently. The fragment is now a sub V-shape in profile. The exterior has moulded decoration which is formed by a central groove with a wide, subtle ridge either side. On the outer edge of these ridges there is fine ribbing which borders the edge of the bracelet. The interior surface of the bracelet is undecorated.
