Two rivet holes are present on both ends of the open end of the plate and would have aided in attachment to a strap. The upper surface is decorated with…

A circular cast lead alloy pilgrim badge featuring, in relief, a stylised figure (probably a knight) on a horse advancing left, with arm and sword raised. Beneath the horse is a horizontal figure with a looping tail. This suggests that the image depicts St. George killing the dragon. There are elongated pellets radiating around the edge. The reverse has a vertical casting line with scars where the pin and catch were integrally cast but are now missing. A small section is missing from the lower left edge. According to Spencer (1998), the cult of St. George flourished in England from t…

A cast lead-alloy object in the form of a pectoral cross, with equal length flaring arms; the front face features decoration representative of the Anglo-Saxon cloisonné style. The rear face is undecorated with a flat, plain surface. The objects style has parallels with four 7th century cross pendants from the early Christian period found in England; all displaying cloisonné inlays for garnets. However, the closest parallel is with the 7th century St Cuthbert pectoral cross with its simple square cut garnet inlays. A hole in the upper arm suggests the cross could have bee…

A late neolithic or early Bronze Age ground flint axe made from a mottled grey flint which has patinated ochre. The axe is complete save for modern flake damage on one edge and possibly also on the butt. The blade of the axe has been ground to a smooth surface although on one side the flake scars are too deep to exhibit much of the ground surface. The axe measures 129.71mm by 60.89mm and is 60.89mm thick. The thinness of the axe suggests that it could be influenced by contemporary metal axes.

The spearhead has a prominent central midrib which is lozenge shaped in section with a sub circular opening. Copper alloy spearhead fragment. Cast lozenge-shaped mid rib and the slightly tapered stubs of the blade of a spear head, probably from fairly close to the tip. The break at the wider end appears fairly recent, that towards the tip is more probably ancient damage. Heavily abraded. The angular section and prominent rib might both associate this with the side looped spear heads of the Middle Bronze Age; examples displayed at the NorthLincolnshireMuseum come from Waddingham, Scawby and Messingham. Cast copper alloy socketed side-looped spearhead dating from the middle to late Bronze Age, (1500-800BC). The spearhead is almost complete.
