An incomplete cast copper alloy strap end of early-medieval date. The strap end is of Thomas' Class A with zoomorphic terminal thought the degree of wear makes ascribing an exact Type difficult. The strap end is a pointed oval in shape with a zoomorphic terminal at the closed end and an irregular worn break at the opposite end. The zoomorphic terminal is in the form of a crude forward facing animal head with recesses for the eyes and a snub snout. A triangular recess behind the eyes bears traces of silvering. The rest of the strap end is extremely worn and any decoration has been rend…

A copper-alloy strap-end, probably dating from the Medieval period.
The sub-rectangular attachment end is two integral plates, with a gap between them, into which the now-missing strap would have fitted. It would have been held in place by a single iron rivet, located centrally, a short distance down from the top. Part of this survives. At the closed end of the strap-end is a globular moulding, possibly with a collar but very corroded. Compare SWYOR-A0B922, BH-2794E7, LIN-019967 and LVPL-560210.
There is some doubt about the identification of these objects as strap ends, and …

It is decorated by a band of cable in the centre and at one end, and rocker arm decoration forming zigzag incised lines on the rest of the plate. An incomplete cast copper alloy early Medieval strap end dating from about 1330-1400. The strap end consists of two plates separated by a shorter sheet spacer with a collared knop. It has a concave edge at the open end where there is also a single rivet, the ends of which lie flush with each surface. The object appears to have a small point that has been broken off at the knop and the plates have been bent at the end of the spacer; it is undecorated and has a medium-dark green patina with traces of a white metal coating. A complete cast copper alloy strap end of medieval date. The object is a composite strap end with forked spacer and acorn terminal. Attached to the forked spacer are two trapezoidal plates held in place by a single central rivet at the attachment end and another at the terminal end. Within the plates it appears as though remnants of a leather strap survive. The shoulders of the forked spacer narrow and curve to form the neck of the acorn terminal which is bulbous and extends into a rounded knop. The strap end is very worn though appears to be undecorated.
