Iron staining on the frame probably from the missing pin. Very similar to an example in Whitehead (2003, 46, no.266). c. 1400 - 1500. Measuring 32 x 32mm.

Buckle. An oval, triangular sectioned frame, with a very short integral forked spacer, pierced for the sheet pin which has side flanges. The plate is formed from a single folded sheet, the fold at the attachment edge, with a slot cut through the fold which now contains corroded iron, probably the remains of an axis bar. This is presumeably a repair after the originally longer forked spacer broke. Frame measures 18 x 20mm. Plate measures 10 x 15mm. Dates to the 14th - 15th century.
