An extremely worn and damaged silver penny of Post Medieval date, possibly a 'Sovereign type' penny of Henry VIII (1509-1547 AD). The surface of the coin has been damaged severely with tears, bends and punctures; no discernible detail remains of the obverse, save the ring around the centre and a possible 'D' in the legend. The reverse depicts a very worn square-topped Tudor shield with a 'T' to the left side of the shield, above the cross line.
