A silver republican denarius issued by Julius Caesar, dating to the period c.47-46 BC (Reece Period 1). Obverse shows Head of Venus right, wearing diadem. Obverse has no legend. Reverse shows Aeneas left, carrying Anchises on left shoulder and palladium in right hand. Reverse legend reads CAESAR. Die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 3.39g, diameter is 18.29mm. African mint. A silver denarius Roman republican coin. Probably moneyer Cn. Lentulus. Mint is Rome, 88BC, (Reece period 1). Reverse legend reads (CN.LENTVL) in exergue. Reverse shows Victory in biga right. See RRC p.356, c.f.345/1.
Obverse shows helmeted bust of Mars right, wearing Corinthian helmet. Obverse legend reads [...]. Condition is fair, die axis is 6 o'clock, weight is 2.43g, diameter is 17.51mm. Note: This comes from a very large issue with 615 obverse and 683 reverse dies.
