Silver Cufflink or Button front. Cast concavo-convex lentoid stud with a pair of scars from attachment to a loop or chain (now lost) on the back. A hand drawn incised design on the front comprises a looped strap with buckle pin holes along it, fastened by a large oval buckle. Shading is added by vertical and diagonal strokes, as is a border of angled sprays. This object is decorated, in a craft tradition rather than an industrial setting. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1750-1850. Length: 17.1mm, Width: 12.9mm, Thickness: 0.5mm, Weight: 0.85gms.

An incomplete silver cufflink element. The element is damaged and miss-shapen, but was probably originally octagonal in shape. The front is slightly convex with a flared rim (incomplete), The front is decorated with an incised double profile portrait of a man and a woman, probably William and Mary. Post Medieval silver cufflink element. A disc from one end of a cufflink. On the front is a raised design of a heart with a small flame rising from the top and two arrows in saltire behind it. A circular silver cufflink with downward-angling rim. The upper surface is decorated with two hearts, set side by side, a crown above. This decoration is executed in low relief, while the recessed background is stippled. A loop has been attached to the centre of the hollow underside. A complete pair of post-Medieval silver cuff links (c. 1700-c. 1800 AD). The cuff link consists of two silver cast octagonal discs joined together by an elongated silver wire loop, circular in cross-section. Solid cast silver sleeve button or cufflink, comprising two discs held by the central shank, the uppermost disc stamped with two hearts beneath a single crown. The hearts are on a speckled background and just touch each other. The crowned hearts are a device associated with the marriage of Charles II and Catherine of Braganza in 1662. A similar button was found in Virginia, USA in the 1960s and published in Noel Hume 1969, fig.22. This object was found in February 2001 and has been acquired by the British Museum, acquisition number: 2002,0711.1
