A silver button or pin head made of strands of silver wire in a basket weave pattern, forming a spherical knob. There are 5 or 6 strands of wire in each band. This object was found on a site which has produced many Early Medieval finds, but this object is more likely to be a Post Medieval to Modern small button or hatpin head. It can be compared to Portable Antiquities Scheme records: SF-ECD665, a finger ring, LANCUM-D87896, a fitting, and KENT-A512A4, a woven ferrule. This is probably Victorian. As it is likely not to be 300 years old, the object does not fall under the rules of t…

A fragment of Early Medieval silver decorated with triangular punches each with a pellet in the centre. The fragment is sub rectangular, broken at each end and tapering. It may be a fragment of an armlet or finger ring, or possibly from a strap end. There are five longitudinal rows of punch marks, two rows overlapping. The fragment is curved. The object may represent hacksilver, but as it is broken rather than cut, this is not certain. Compare DENO-9F9344 (2010 T385).
