A contemporary copy of a quarter guinea of George III (AD 1760-1820), minted in c. AD 1762. The coin is made of silver and would have been gold plated, although none of this now survives. Quarter guineas were only minted in AD 1762, so the copies must date either to this exact year or soon after. This example may have been struck by hand rather than being milled as it is slightly irregular and thinner than original examples.
