An incomplete copper alloy Early Medieval bow brooch, circa AD450-550. Identified by Helen Geake as a small-long brooch which is imitating a square-headed brooch, due to the lack of relief ornament. An integrally cast rectangular lug is present on the centre reverse of the plate. An incomplete cast copper alloy early-medieval saucer brooch. The brooch is in poor condition, possibly not of the best quality originally; the brooch is sub-circualr and retains only a small fragment of its flared rim; an anthropomorphic face maskdecorates the front of the brooch, depicting hairline, eyebrows and nose, open oval eyes and an open mouth. No evidence of gilding can be seen, and the reverse of the brooch retains only a trace of the catchplate. Although usually face masks are seen on button brooches, this example is too large to qualify and is therefore labelled a saucer …

An Early Medieval, copper-alloy stirrup terminal with trilobate, foot-like form.
