A thick cortical flake of grey and brown marbled flint with cream flecks. The pebble has been abruptly flaked through the cortex around most of the perimeter and then finished with finer retouch. Some of this has been undercut by abrasion from use. Mercer(1981) illustrates a cortical scraper on page 133, fig 58, L131.

Flint scraper, trapezoid in plan and plano convex in profile. The dorsal side has a hinge fractured distal end. The left margin has been irregularly worked. There is a visible bulb of percussion on the proximal end. On the ventral side the left margin has slight retouch and there is impact fracturing on the proximal end. The flint has tones of pale to mid charcoal in colouring. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 151, Fig. 5.135, F. 129 which is dated to the Bronze Age.

The right margin and proximal end are roughly chipped. The right margin is also partly cortex. On the ventral side there is retouch on the upper left margin and distal edge. The central left margin is both covered with cortex and is fractured. The flint is semi translucent and is mid to dark grey with brown areas in colouring. Flint side scraper formed on a flake, sub-circular in plan, bi-convex in profile and section. On the dorsal face there is semi-abruipt retouch along the distal and right edges. The lower left margin has a notch possibly resulting from damage. The flint is grey with pale mottles. There is secondary cortexand is likley to have derived from a local beach pebble. Bond (2004) has a similar example, though described as an end scraper, on page 141, Figure 5.127, Number 6.

The ventral face has ripples and a bulbal scar. The dorsal face has retained secondary cortex and one flake removal. The distal end has been hollowed and retouched to create a scraper. The retouched area is heavily abraded. The piece is made from a dark grey greensand pebble chert. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of its secondary cortex. Butler illustrates a similar piece on Page 184 Fig 75 No 6, which he placed in the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age period.

The ventral face has a clearly visible bulb but no retouch. The dorsal face is completely covered in secondary cortex but the left margin, which is concave has been blunted with parallel abrupt retouch. The piece is made from a dark grey flint. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of its secondary cortex. Butler illustrates a similar piece on Page 52 Fig 19 No 3, which he calls a hollow scraper and placed in the late Neolithic to early Bronze Age period.

Flint scraper, sub-circular in plan, plano-convex in profile and section. On the dorsal face short, semi abrupt retouch is visible along the left, distal and right margins. There are signs of use-wear on the upper right section. It is truncated at the proximal end. The flint is grey with pale mottling and incipient patination. It is classed as tertiary because of the absence of cortex. It matches Bond's Type 3 scraper (Bond 2004, Page 126, Figure 5.113) and he shows another example on page 132, Figure 5.118, Number F9.

Flint side scraper, sub-rectangular in plan, plano-convex in profile and section. On the dorsal face there is invasive, semi-abrupt retouch on the left margin. Cortex provides backing on the right margin. The flint is pale brown with white mottles and the cortex is pale cream. It has primary cortex and is most likely to have derived from a local beach pebble. Bond (2004) shows a similar side scraper on page 132, Figure 5.118, Number. F7.

Chunky flake with retouch along one edge which could have been used as a side scraper. There is cortex on the dorsal which would act as backing for this. There is an incipient notch at he lower part of this edge, together with signs of slight trim along the lower part of the edge. The ventral side is smooth and flat. The flint is blue/grey in colour with a pinkish tinge to the cortex and it was likely derived from a local beach pebble. Bond [2004] illustrates a similar example on page 56, fig 5.20, No. L110 which is dated to the Neolithic.

The ventral face of this flake is gently concave with a visible bulb and no retouch. The dorsal face has a high, sharp medial ridge with a semi-abrupt flake removals towards each margin. The distal end has retained secondary cortex. The proximal end ha slow angle retouch towards its tip which ha sbeen blunted with abrupt retouch. The piece is made from a dark brown flint. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of the secondary cortex. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar piece on Page 127 Fig 51 No 11 which he dates to the Neolithic period.

The ventral face has a bulbal scar but no retouch. Cortex is retained over 40% of the dorsal face falling from a rounded medial ridge. From the edge of the cortex long flaked retouch in parallel strokes descends over the rounded shape of the pebble to the right margin. The distal half of this margin has abrupt retouch, while the proximal half has been left sharp and low angle retouch at the apex has enhanced a sharp tip. The piece is made from a yellow/grey flint. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of the secondary cortex. Butler (2005) illustrates a s…

This thick flake is of poor quality and has not flaked evenly. The ventral face has no retouch. The dorsal face has two semi-circular flake removals from a high medial ridge. The remnant "peninsula" has long abrupt retouch to cretae a scraper. The retouch continues around the margins of each "bay". There is retained secondary beach cortex on the end opposite the nose. The piece is made from a mottled grey flint. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of the secondary cortex. The ventral face has a clearly visible bulb. The dorsal face has ripples from three blade removals towards a flat distal margin. The proximal right margin has been retouched from the ventral face with "pecked" abrupt retouch. The left margin has a flattened (snapped?) edge. The apex of the proximal margin is possibly a damaged awl point. But this piece is most likely a scraper. The piece is made from a dark brown flint. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is difficult to confirm with only tertiary cortex. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar piece on Page…
