This piece has no bulb or apparent ripples on the ventral face. The dorsal face has a flattened ridge with semi-abrupt flake removals. The longer removal is towards a serrated edge. The top and bottom have been truncated. The flint is mottled dark grey in colour. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is difficult to confirm with only tertiary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 143 Fig 63 No L206 which he calls a truncated, serrated edge flake and dates to the Neolithic period.

Ripples are apparent on the ventral face, but no bulb. The dorsal face ha sa sweeping, flattened flake removal towards the long distal margin, which is serrated, possibly from use wear. The margins have been trimmed from the proximal tip by long flake removal. This piece could have been hafted. The flint is light grey in colour. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is difficult to confirm with only tertiary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 131 Fig 57 No L109 which he calls an edge trimmed flake and dates to the Neolithic period.

The ventral face shows that the piece has been snapped above the bulb. There is some "nibbled" retouch at the ventral left margin. The dorsal face has a medial ridge weith flake removals towards each margin and three long, parallel retouch removals towards the proximal end. The dorsal right margin is more obviously serrated than the left one. The distal end has been snapped. The flint is translucent light brown in colour with a ghostly white patina. This piece may have been heated as it is "nobbly". The point has been retouched on all sides, so it may be described as an awl. A broad, quite thin flake of altered, burnt flint with a grey opaque colour with an orange and blue oxidation stain. This was quite a nice round scraper with retouch around the lateral margins and probably the distal end, but heat has broken this part off. This was not the end of use however, as a flat but rough facet has been ground into the break facet from a heavy grinding task. The crazed internal structure of the flint has been a useful property as it fractures to resharpen on heavy use. Flint scraper, sub triangular in plan and almost almond shaped in profile. The dorsal side surface has a lateral mesial ridge above which is a sparkly crystal concavity. The right margin is serrated and sharp edged. The left margin is unevenly snapped. The proximal end is part fractured and part serrated. On the ventral side the surface is flatter but with some uneven contours. There is also a small area of cortex. The flint has pale grey and cream tones with some mixed translucent and opaque areas and a secondary cream-coloured cortex. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example …

The ventral face has ripples and is snapped above the bulb. The left ventral margin has apparent retouch. The dorsal face has a flattened ridge and flake removal to the left margin, which is serrated. The right margin is damaged, but clearly serrated. Both distal and proximal ends have been snapped and truncated. The flint is black in colour with brown cortex. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble but this is difficult to confirm with only tertiary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 143 Fig 63 No L200 which he calls a truncated and serrated ed…

A thick flake of translucent tan brown flint with opaque cream spots. The dorsal surface has broadly convergent truncated flake scars meeting at a patch of pebble cortex. It may be that this was one of the last removals when dressing a pebble to leave suitable working material inside. The convex left margin is steep and has been shallowly and invasively retouched along its length and undercut with use by abrasion. The right, sharp margin is serrated. The broken distal tip has also been used and picked up some gloss. Butler(2005) illustrates a side scraper on page 128, fig 52, 4.

Flint pebble borer, ovoid in plan and plano convex in profile. The dorsal side is mostly cortex except for the right margin which has two layers of retouch, low angle and semi abrupt. The distal tip is retouched into a thick point. There is impact damage on the proximal end of the ventral side where there are also conchoidal ripples emanating up to the distal end. The flint is dark tan and brown grey toned with a secondary dark beige-coloured cortex. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 137, Fig. 5.124, No. F. 28 which is dated to the Neolithic period.

The ventral face is hollowed towards the right margin. The dorsal face has retained cortex on its right margin. The point has been retouched, but the tip is broken and weathered. It is impossible to decide which is the proximal or distal end as the ventral and dorsal faces have been struck in so many places. The flint is grey in colout with brown cortex. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of its secondary cortex. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar piece on Page 169 Fig 71 No 2 which he calls a piercer and dates to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age.

A truncated thick plunging flake of opaque mottled cream and light grey flint . This removed the flaking face of a blade core. The broken notch on the edge of the break facet may have been to make the truncation easier.
