Head of a cast copper alloy pin originally with a flattened head through which was a hole at which point the head is lost. Both faces of the head bore an incised St Andrew's cross: X, on one side this is irregular, on the other one bar is made up of a number of roughly incised lines. The head is separated from the shank by step-like mouldings on both faces below which are single transverse grooves and a band of circumferential grooves. The shank has a 3.5mm diameter round section. It is likely that the head of this pin originally bore two loose 'spangles' attached by wire rings.
