Lead Seal Matrix. Cast pointed-oval or vesica-shaped matrix with deeply incised motif and legend; the central motif depicts a star over a crescent moon all enclosed in a grooved border. The legend reads + S'.ROG'. F'. EVE (Seal of Rog(er) son of Eve). The F looks very like a P due to the curly shape of the apostrophes used in the inscription. It is relatively unusual to have a matronymic (name of the mother) rather than a patronymic (name of the father) as the surname, but Eve is certainly a woman's name. A post-medieval lead unifacial token. Powell Type 2 depicting initials I(G), dating to c. 1550-c. 1750. It measures 18.2mm in diameter, has a thickness of 2.5mm, and weighs 5.7g. The token is pale grey in colour, and in good condition. The crossbar on the letter I suggests a broadly 17th-century date.

A largely complete lead weight dating to the Early Medieval period and of Viking style. The weight is circular in plan and rectangular in section. The top of the object is inlaid with blue/green glass of which some is missing. The lead is white/grey in colour. It weighs 48.0g and measures 25.07mm in diameter and 12.61mm in thickness. See DUR-8BB722 as a recent example recorded on this database.

An incomplete cast uniface probably post-medieval lead token. Probably Powell Type 14 depicting a single cross dividing the field into quarters with a single pellet in each quarter. Two arms of the cross remain with the pellets in each surviving quarter; approximately half of the original flan remains, truncated by a rough break. Diameter 19.3 mm, Thickness 1.74 mm, Weight: 1.61 g. The condition is good with some surface corrosion present.

Early Medieval lead fragment with Salin's Style I decoration, 34mm long, 24mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 14.43g. The object is sub-rectangular in form and rectangular in cross section. It has an upper edge formed of two semi-circles. These and the rest of the upper surface contain a swirling raised pattern. It begins with a central vertical band which splits into two and each side curves into a swirl, filling each rounded end. The object has snapped leaving a straight lower edge and its reverse carries the scar of a rectangular? projection. …
