Copper alloy and iron or steel Possible Cuirass hinge, perhaps from lorica segmentata. Pair of cast lobate hinge plates with pelta shaped terminals; one hinge bears a centrally placed iron rivet of diameter 3mm, and where the plates meet an axis bar of ferrous metal of (now) diameter circa 4mm passes between them. Part of one of the terminals appears to be folded back and trapped between the plates. Lead unidentified object. Cast teardrop shaped plate, with an off-centre crease along which it is lightly folded. The mass might suggest a function as a weight and relationship to a Scandinavian system of measurement based on modules of 4.07gms, in which case this object might represent eight such units. Early Medieval weights of other forms were reported from the same location. An alternative possibility is that this is a later craftsman's palm guard, of which an example (NLM-7C1B38) was also found nearby, though this object is not otherwise marked by such use, as might be expected. …

An unidentified cast copper-alloy object of unknown date. This object is moulded at the front and concave at the rear. It is sub-rectangular in plan and 'C'-shaped in cross-section when viewed from the ends. At the front, the ends flare slightly and mid-way along its length there is a prominent transverse rib. The concave part at the rear has an 'hour-glass' shape. The two abraded faces at the rear appear to be breaks and each end seems to be complete. This resembles offcut fragments trapped beneath nails used to secure flashing, though the aperture lacks the distinctly square form of a handmade nail shank. A large complete cast lead pot mend of uncertain date. The pot mend is comprised of two large oval discs joined by a thick central shank and was used to mend a broken vessel in order to lengthen the period of use after damage had occurred. The shank can be seen coming through the centre of the smaller of the two plates. The gap between the two plates is quite wide and contains no surviving ceramic material which would help in dating the object. The metal is a mid grayish-white colour and is worn. The pot mend is 45.9mm long, 34.5mm wide, 16.7mm thick and weighs 111g.

A complete cast lead spindle whorl of uncertain date. The object is circular in plan with a flat top and base, rounded sides and a wide central perforation. One side of the spindle whorl is decorated with incised triangular cells around the perforation. The metal is a mid whitish-grey colour and is worn. The spindle whorl is 28.5mm in diameter, 9.9mm thick and weighs 45.9g. Spindle whorls were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are difficult to date precisely without a secure archaeological context. Most however are late medieval to Post-medieval in date.
