A cast lead weight or possibly spindle whorl. It is flat and sub-circular with a flat top, angled sides and an indented ring running around the centre on the base with a raised inner and outer edge. There is a tapering circular hole running through the centre, now filled by iron pan. It is 26.8mm in diameter, 8.2mm thick and weights 31.91g, the hole is 8.1mm in diameter at the base, 7.5mm at the top. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late Medieval - Post Medieval.
