Flint flake, quadrilateral in plan and splinter shaped in profile. The dorsal side surface is convex with a single mesial ridge. The distal edge is serrated and the proximal end notched. Both left and right margins are snapped. The ventral side surface is flat. The flint is semi translucent and pale grey cream in colour with a tertiary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on page 143, Fig. 63, No. L. 206 which is dated to the Mesolithic period.

TREASURE CASE 2012 T3 Post Medieval Button Description: Post Medieval silver button casing. It is hemispherical in shape, with a soldered silver wire loop at the apex. There is a raised band around the rim and the outer surface is decorated in alternate bands of plain raised lines and recessed lines which are filled with narrow, oblique lines. It is now hollow, but contains traces of a white paste which was probably used to secure a gem or glass setting. It is 12.67mm in diameter, 9.60mm long and weighs 0.92 grams. Flint flake, triangular in plan and plano convex in profile. On the dorsal side the distal edge and left margin are serrated. The right margin is snapped at two angles. On the ventral side the left margin is snapped and the right margin hinge fractured. The flint is very dark grey with brown speckles in colour with a tertiary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on page 143, Fig. 63, No. L. 199 which is dated to the Neolithic period.

The left margin is serrated with two notches. The flint is mid blue grey with a large central section of light grey inclusion in colouring. There is also light grey inclusion at the tip. The secondary cortex is dark beige grey in tone. Butler (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 131, Fig. 55, No. 1 which is dated to the Neolithic period.

An incomplete copper alloy unidentified object of uncertain date and function. It is a round shaft that tapers to a flattened, sub-lozenge shaped terminal. There are two lateral moulded lines that run from the end to halfway through the terminal. It is dark grey in colour, with patches of light green corrosion on the terminal. There is an old break at the end of the shaft. It measures 35.23 mm L x 4.27 mm W (at terminal) x 1.50 mm TH (at terminal) x 2.80 mm DIA and weighs 1.67 g.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Post Medieval hat buckle, dating between 1720-1800. It was a square buckle with rounded corners in plan and D shape in section; however, it is broken and only portions of two arms survive. The longer arm expands at the centre and tapers at the corners, where there is a single notch. There is a complex curvilinear design moulded into the buckle, which meets in the centre of the longer arm. The buckle is in good condition, albeit broken with old breaks.
