Record ID: PUBLIC-7FB2F2
Object type: FLAKE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Cornwall
Workflow stage: Published Find published
An edge trimmed flake, grey and brown in colour, bi-facially retouched and expediently made. The right margin of the dorsal face exhibits discontinuous retouch with a low angle and is of edge extent. The same retouch is evident on the ventral face resulting in improved serration function. Extensive cortex cover of the left margin of the dorsal face allows for comfortable handling. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on p131, Fig 57, L113.

An edge trimmed flake which has been uni-facially retouched and expediently made. The left margin of the dorsal face exhibits partial retouch with a low angle and is of edge type extent. The same type of retouch is evident along the proximal end, although becoming continuous, which results resulting in serration along both these edges. Both left and right margins on the ventral face exhibit discontinuous retouch with a low angle and is of edge extent to improve serration function. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on p131, Fig 57, L114 which dates to the Neolithic.

An edge trimmed flake, cream and grey in colour, which has been uni-facially retouched and expediently made. The right margin of the dorsal face exhibits discontinuous retouch of abrupt angle and is of long type extent. Numerous lines of weakness have led to fracturing during working of the piece. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on p129, Fig 56, L97 which dates to the Neolithic.
