It has a diameter of 16 mm and weighs 1.4 g. The coin has received some small circumferential losses, in two main areas.

An extremely worn and corroded 4th-century copper-alloy Roman nummus probably of the House of Valentinian, possibly 'SECVRITAS REI PVBLICAE', uncertain mint (c. AD 364-378; Reece issue period 19).
This coin has been pierced probably at a later date to convert it into a jewellery item, probably in the early-medieval period. The piercing is near the circumference at around 4 o'clock on the obverse and around 2 o'clock on the reverse.

A pierced copper-alloy nummus of the House of Valentinian. Mint is uncertain, AD 364-378, Reece period 19. Obverse shows, probably unclear bust right. Obverse legend is illegible. Reverse shows Victory advancing left. Reverse legend reads SECVRITAS REI PUBLICAE. Die axis is probably 12 o'clock. Weight is 1.57g, diameter is 17.96mm, thickness is 1.46mm.
The circular perforation has a diameter of 1.89mm and is set 1.90mm from the edge of the flan.
