An extremely worn 16th-century silver post-medieval threepence of Elizabeth I, second issue, London mint (AD 1568). The wear is differential, with the obverse more deliberately worn. Furthermore, a lozengiform latticework grid has been finely incised over the royal bust, thus defacing it.
