One half of a Post Medieval wooden tobacco pipe mould dating AD1580 - 1610. The mould is rectangular in plan with the exception of one corner which has been shaped on the diagonal - this corresponds internally with the open end of the pipe bowl. There are two peg holes on opposite sides and angles to secure the two halves of the mould together. There are recessed sections carved into the sides of the mould. The internal surface of the mould has been carved to create a void in the shape of a tobacco pipe, with an angled bowl, large flat foot and long tapering stem. The internal cavity …
