Flint, patinated heavily on one side and lightly on the other. Scraper. Triangular knapped flint; a bulb of percussion on the ventral aspect shows where it was detached, the finder identifies this break as a hinge fracture. After an elapse of time permitting the light patination of the ventral aspect, fine pressure flaking executed from that side removed patination along one edge. The opposite edge also feels lightly serrated, though this might arise from fortuitous damage. The skilful working, and the development and subsequent removal of patina, tend to indicate a prolonged Neolit…

Object type: KNIFE
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: North Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
Translucent Flint Knife fragment. Flake with paired longitudinal flake removal scars on its dorsal aspect and a bulb of percussion on its ventral face. Very fine retouch by pressure flaking runs along the parallel edges of the blade, and is executed on the ventral side. The further extent of blade is lost. The selection of good quality flint and its skilful working suggest an Early Neolithic date, 3500-2900 BC. Length: 12.1mm, Width: 10.9mm, Thickness: 2.2mm, Weight: 0.28gms.

A mid-brown possible leaf-shaped arrowhead of Neolithic date. There is some retouch around the perimeter of the object and both faces. Some of the edges have however, been broken leaving gaps. The object weighs 1.3g and measures 24.87mm in length and 17.89mm at its widest point. Leaf-shaped arrowheads date from the early Neolithic.

Record ID: CAM-DB26D4
Object type: SCRAPER (TOOL)
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A pebble sized piece of flint that has probably been worked to form a scraper tool. No strike platform, pimple or bulb of percussion is visible and the 'cloudy' grey flint has impurities that would have made knapping difficult to control however retouching seems to be present along just less than half of the flint's edge. Possibly later prehistoric knapping technology. Weight is 6.68g, length is 28.55mm, width is 23.49mm and thickness is 10.69mm.

A prehistoric worked flint flake that has been formed into a scraper. This flake seems to be the top part of a larger bulb of percussion that has been reworked to form a smaller scraper. A small area of cortex survives close to the pimple. Weight is 6.5g, length is 23.84mm, thickness is 9.55mm and width is 24.97mm.

An indeterminate flint that may possibly have plough damage that looks similar to retouching along the edge opposite the strike platform and as a result resembles a scraper tool. Cortex covers most of one side. This flint has suffered post-depositional damage. Maximum height is 31.16mm, width is 32.53mm, thickness is 11.60mm, weight is 15.24g.

Broad period: NEOLITHIC

Flint flake probably dating to the Neolithic to Bronze Age (3500BC-1400BC). It is sub-oval in plan and is very smooth, showing signs of water wear. The proximal end is flattened, perhaps to be attached to a shaft. There is possible evidence of use along the thinner edge for cutting however due to the character of the flint, slightly rolled and weathered, it is uncertain. It has a sandy orange to buff patina.

Flint flake probably dating to the Neolithic to Bronze Age period, (3500BC-1400BC). The object is curved in profile and D-shaped in cross section. Cracks, ripples and a circular depression can be seen on the dorsal face. On the ventral face conchoidal ripples can be seen running down from the bulb of percussion. The bulbar end is sub-triangular in plan, whilst the opposite end has a right-angled regular-sided cut groove where a wooden shaft would have been fitted to the flint implement. It is grey in color.
